Summary:

Burkina Faso doesn’t set yet regulations an GM foods. We don’t have yet a laboratory or governmental infrastructure competent to assess the safety of GM foods. So for now we don’t carry out any GM food safety assessment. However, the country is in the process in developing a regulatory framework that requires the competent authority to conduct safety assessment of GM food, throw our National Agency in charge of Standards Setting and Products Quality Assessment (ABNORM). This Agency is a part of Ministry in charge of Trade. To develop a regulatory framework, this agency is working with many governmental department as department from Ministry in charge of health, of agriculture, of Animal Resources, of Environment, of Research, with Association of Food Processing Actors, with Association of Consumers.
