Shopping in the souk

This is our local souk. It is very small but you can find most things you need. I can't afford to go every week. My husband's income is about 800 dirhams (96 US dollars) a month, and food is expensive, especially meat. When I go to the souk I usually buy vegetables, some oil, sugar and soap, and meat when I can afford it.

Our meals are very simple. We have bread with olive oil for breakfast and lentil soup or vegetables with bread for lunch or dinner. Thanks to the goats my little girl also gets a cup of milk every morning. We always try to put milk aside for the younger children, who need it to grow.

Today I am treating Najat to an ice cream.
