Regional and subregional forestry offices

To further strengthen FAO's role as an international centre of excellence and world reference centre for food, agriculture, fisheries and forestry, great efforts have been undertaken in recent years to reinforce FAO's country-based structure and to transfer personnel, resources and responsibility to regional and subregional offices.

Forestry issues are dealt with by FAO staff at the:
  • Regional Office for Africa and the Subregional Office for Southern and East Africa;
  • Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and the Subregional Office for the Pacific Islands;
  • Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean and the Subregional Office for the Caribbean;
  • Regional Office for the Near East;
  • United Nations Economic Commission for Europe - Timber Committee and the Subregional Office for Central and Eastern Europe .
