FAO Forestry country profiles - forest management
Management plans
Long-term forest management plans have not been developed and forest management plans are not a legislative requirement. There have, however, been a number of initiatives resulting in the development of management plans for considerable areas of forest. In Pohnpei, a mangrove management plan was prepared in 1993. This plan provides goals, objectives, standards and guidelines for the management of mangrove areas on Pohnpei, and proposes regulations and a mangrove timber management plan with silvicultural treatments for consideration. The development of community action plans for the management of conservation areas incorporates management plans for upland forests in watershed areas and for mangroves in conservation areas.last updated: Tuesday, November 24, 2009
