Forest administration structure – level of authority

Since December 2006, Forestry has been elevated to a status of a Branch within the DWAF (headed by a Deputy Director-General). This step was taken to ensure that the forestry programmes and projects of the Department are effectively coordinated and implemented, and that the necessary capacity is established to promote national priorities.
