Present status of trials by species
Initiatives have focused mainly on cedars (Cedrus atlantica, C. libani), cypresses (Cupressus spp.), Mediterranean firs (Abies cephalonica), pines belonging to the Aleppo group (Pinus halepensis, P. brutia, P. eldarica) and the stone pine (Pinus pinea), while cedars and pines are the main focus of the present project. Little information is yet available on the results of comparative trials. The dissemination of scientific and technical analyses is often confined to within the individual research institute, and if results are published, they appear in publications with a limited circulation, further restricting their application.
