History of Logging

In Ecuador there are no out pointed forests specifically for logging. The provinces located in northwest (Esmeralda) and "nororiente" of the country are the major providers of wood for forest industry, which in the beginning of the 1990s consisted of about 2,200 industrial units, of which about 25% were sawmills, 32% furniture industries and the rest other forest industry (CTDSIF 1995, FAO 1999).
