Other related legal instruments are the Community Forestry Directives of 1994 and the Community Forestry Guidelines of 1995 (amended in 2002) together with various manuals. The act, regulation and directives are obligatory instruments while the guidelines and manuals are not.
Environmental legislation
> Plant Protection Act, 2002
The Act provides for the protection of natural vegetation by the establishment of a Plant Quarantine Check Post. All import and export of plants, seeds and related items must be licensed by the Plant Quarantine Check Post and fees paid accordingly. Under this Act, it is furthermore instituted the National Plant Quarantine Committee, whose functions and tasks shall be the protection of plants from whatever harmful occurrence (pests, diseases, infections).

This Act provides for the protection of the environment through minimizing adverse impacts and applying proper use and management to natural resources.

> National Parks & Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973
The Act establishes the power of the Government to declare any area as a national park or reserve; defines the actions that are prohibited within the protected area; provides for the issuance of a licence as far as hunting is concerned and other related issues.
