IUFRO Working Group 4.01.04 "Effects of Environmental Changes on Forest Growth" is dealing with the impacts of changing environment on tree growth using retrospective analysis of annual rings, height growth of trees, long-term experiments and data from forest inventories. The main aim of the research is to make forecasts about the future productivity of forest stands in large regions.

The output of this session will be a better understanding of the quantitative impacts of climate variation, extreme climate events and long term climate change to the growth of trees and productivity of forests. As growth of trees is closely related with tree mortality the relation between growth and tree mortality will be discussed as well.
