Genetic and physiological adaptation to changing climate

Session organisers/chairs:

Kurt Johnsen (USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station and Bailian Li (Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, United States)

This session will cover recent research on use of genetic and physiological variation in forest trees to adapt to changing climate.  It is planned to cover the following aspects:

  • predicting adaptive responses of species and populations to climate changes
  • quantifying among-population genetic variation for climate-related traits
  • predicting potential impacts of climate change on ecosystems and species ranges
  • genetic basis and mechanisms for adapting to climate changes
  • physiological adaptation to climate changes
  • genomics data for predicting tree adaptation
