FAO Forestry Department organize in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of Czech Republic and the 'Forest of the Czech Republic'- State Entereprise from 21 to 26 March 2004 a Forestry Policy Workshop on Trends in Forest Use and Conservation.
The purpose of the workshop is to discuss current and emerging issues facing the development of the forestry sector and identify policy options for action. This will be achieved by reviewing major trends in forest use and conservation in Central Europe, discussing the need for cross-sectoral policy coordination, promoting the use of the integrated system of environmental and economic accounting for integrating forest benefits into the national economy, and reporting on successful country experience in financing non productive functions of forests.
