UNSG report on SMD to the 64th UNGA

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at its 62nd session deliberated the resolution 62/196 on Sustainable Mountain Development (SMD) and requested the United Nations Secretary General (UNSG) to report to UNGA at its 64th session on progress made in the implementation of the resolution. As the leading agency for mountain development in the UN system, FAO was tasked with the compilation of this report ( A/64/222 ).

FAO prepared the report in collaboration with Governments, relevant agencies of the United Nations system and other organizations with a high response rate to requests for information on progress achieved. Due to restrictions on reporting length, much of the valuable input provided by stakeholders could not be accommodated in this report.

For this reason, all the unedited material received from countries and organizations is made available on this web page. The contributions are sorted by submitting entity and can be accessed by clicking on the links below the respective heading of the report. As far as country reports are concerned, besides governmental agencies also informed professionals belonging to other organizations have been consulted.
