FAO Forestry country profiles - natural woody vegetation
Broadleaved
There are open forests along the central and southern parts of the coast, classified in the UNESCO system as "drought-deciduous broadleaved lowland woodland" and "purely deciduous thorn woodland", and as "coastal savannah" by Acosta-Solfa (1961), with Acacia sp., Prosopis inermis and patches of Tabebuia sp. They correspond mainly to the "tropical dry forest" and "subtropical dry forest" life zones.
