On Babeldaob, an extensive savannah dominated by a herbaceous flora of grasses, herbs, and sedges can be found. Scattered throughout are woody shrubs and small trees of Alphitonia carolinensis, Decaspermum raymundii, Fagraea ksid, Melastoma malabathricum, Pandanus spp., Rhus taitensis and Symplocos racemosa var. palauensis.
