FAO Forestry country profiles - natural woody vegetation
Forest fallows
These types correspond to the various closed broadleaved formations described above. They include young secondary forest growth occurring after traditional, low intensity shifting cultivation with restricted burning. "Alang-alang" (Imperata) fields that are the result of short-rotation shifting cultivation with extensive burning are not included in the category of forest fallow since there is little or no chance for rapid recolonisation by secondary forest.
