4 April 2016 The Sawlog Production Grant Scheme Phase III is a joint initiative between the Government of Uganda and the European Union whose primary objective is to encourage private sector investment in commercial timber plantations through provision of grants and technical support. It aims at increasing the incomes of the rural population through commercial tree planting by small, medium and large scale planters and local communities, while at the same time helping to mitigate climate change effects through intensive afforestation. The Project Coordinator leads the Technical Management Unit (TMU) and is responsible for the overall administration, technical implementation and day-to-day coordination and monitoring of the project activities including budgeting, planning and reporting. 4 February 2016 The CGIAR Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry: Livelihoods, Landscapes and Governance (FTA) is a world-leading research initiative, responding to the call for urgent, strong and sustained effort focused on forest management and governance, given the crucial role of forests in confronting some of the most important challenges of our time: climate change, poverty, and food security. The FTA brings together several hundred scientists from the following six program participants: four CGIAR Research Centers (the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)) and two non-CGIAR Organisations (CIRAD and CATIE), as well as many other partners.
