Criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management
International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) process
The ITTO process identifies 7 criteria and 66 indicators applicable both at the national and forest management unit levels in humid tropical forests of member tropical countries. These Criteria and indicators were adopted in March 1992 and underwent further revision and were finally compiled in the ITTO document "Criteria and indicators for the measurement of sustainable management of natural tropical forests", endorsed in 1999.
ITTO also runs field tests on the implementation of criteria and indicators at the forest management unit level in tropical countries.

Members to the ITTO process are exclusively the producer countries i.e. Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Colombia, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Fiji, Gabon, Ghana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Suriname, Thailand, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Vanuatu and Venezuela.
