Dry forests in Asia
Regional Initiative for the Development and Implementation of National Level Criteria and Indicators for the Sustainable Management of Dry Forests in Asia
This initiative originated in a workshop on National Level Criteria and Indicators for the Sustainable Management held in December 1999 and supported by FAO, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO).
The nine participating countries identified eight national level criteria and 49 indicators for the sustainable management of dry forests in the region. Participating countries also elaborated a two-year plan of action and undertook to seek political and technical support from national forestry authorities for its implementation.
Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
