Streamlining forest-related reporting

Joint information framework

Welcome to the CPF Portal on Forest Reporting. It is designed to help users find information related to national reporting on forests to various international organizations, institutions and instruments.

The portal is maintained by FAO, in close collaboration with other members of the
CPF Task Force on Streamlining Forest-Related Reporting. To help reduce reporting burden on countries and improve efficiency of reporting, members work to reduce and streamline reporting requests, synchronize reporting cycles, harmonize data collection methods, increase data comparability and compatibility, and facilitate the accessibility and flows of existing information.

A step toward presenting forest information in a common way is to organize the information according to thematic elements of
sustainable forest management (SFM)
To further enhance coordinated activities by CPF members dealing with forest reporting, CPF has agreed on the following key outputs for 2006-2010:
  • More coordinated approach for working with countries on information requests
  • Maintained and regularly updated information on the CPF Reporting Portal
  • Increased coordinated approach for the information assembly
  • Increased capacity at the national level for forest information collection, analysis and reporting
