    DEVELOPMENT OF A SUSTAINABLE CHARCOAL INDUSTRY
    FAO TCP/CRO/3101 project of technical assistance to Croatia

    The project objective is to provide technical assistance for the preparation of a modernization and revitalization programme for the charcoal industry of Croatia and wider utilisation of biomass as a renewable energy source.

    Specific objectives are:

    • improvement of the knowledge and understanding of existing charcoal production industry in Croatia;
    • preparation of a modernisation and revitalization programme for the charcoal industry;
    • and strengthening of the capabilities of main counterparts for the implementation of the programme for the modernization and revitalization of the charcoal industry.

    SUPPLY AND UTILIZATION OF BIOENERGY TO PROMOTE SUSTAIABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT.

    The project assists the Slovenian Forestry Service (SFS) to (a) prepare a program for increased and sustainable woodfuel production, trade and utilization being integrated within the national forestry and energy plans; and (b) improve national capabilities, especially those of the SFS and associated partners, for the implementation of new forestry and energy programmes.
