This inventory assesses the forest carbon stock in different ecological zones in Nigeria through a stratified random cluster sampling, discovering that mountain forest ecosystems contain the highest biomass, carbon stocks and carbon dioxide, while lowland rainforest is the most diverse.

This study adopts a new classification scheme, consisting of 12 classes to analyse land use and land cover trends in Nigeria. The results show that forest land use decreased from 2006 to 2016, while non-forest land use greatly increased.
