International conference on Forests for Food Security and Nutrition

The International Conference on Forests for Food Security and Nutrition was held on 13-15 May 2013. It was organized by FAO in partnership with Bioversity International, the Center for International Forestry Research, the World Agroforestry Centre and the World Bank. More than 400 participants attended the conference, comprising experts from governments, civil-society organizations, indigenous and other local communities, donors and international organizations in more than 100 countries.

The International Conference increased understanding of the crucial role that forests, trees on farms and agroforestry systems can play in improving the food security and nutrition of rural people, especially in developing countries. It proposed ways to integrate this knowledge in policy decisions at the national and international levels.
