Kotka V

Kotka, Finland, June 12-16, 2006

The purposes of Kotka V (held in June 2006) were to evaluate FRA 2005 and to provide general guidance for FRA 2010. Kotka V also analysed the needs and feasibility for implementing an independent study using remote sensing to gather information on forest area change dynamics at biome, regional and global level. Furthermore Kotka V identified strategies to enhance collaboration with other forestry related reporting processes and organizations.

The Finnish Forest Research Institute, Metla, has been in charge of the practical arrangements of the Kotka consultations, and it was responsible for the arrangements also for Kotka V.
