Finding good news about Latin American and Caribbean forests Santo Domingo/Rome, 26 June 2006 – Latin American and Caribbean countries gathered here for a high-level FAO meeting on forests today launched a new initiative to collect case studies of successful forest management from around the region so that they can be replicated elsewhere. http://www.fao.org/newsroom/en/news/2006/1000341/index.html Greening our cities 22 June 2006, Rome – Urban areas, home to more than half the world’s poor, are projected to account for nearly all population growth over the next 25 years, with 9 out of every 10 births occurring in cities.
