Full Sessions

Full Sessions of the IPC are hosted every four years in a different region of the world to address topical issues and demonstrate unique applications of Poplar and Willow culture and management reflecting their priority social, culture, environmental and economic needs. Each Session has a theme reflecting priority applications of Poplars and Willows in that region. A focus of recent Full Sessions has been to address more effective ways to translate Poplar and Willow culture and policies into implementation and science into practice to achieve sustainable forestry, livelihood and rural development.

The programme of Full Sessions include presentation of keynote addresses of particular relevance to the theme, parallel technical meetings on topical issues, business meetings of working parties and plenary sessions to undertake the formal tasks of the IPC. Associated study tours are undertaken to demonstrate Poplar and Willow cultivation, utilization and manufacturing by State and private investors. Increasingly study tours highlight applications in multi-disciplinary and inter-sectoral land-uses.

Participants include policy makers, planners, scientists, managers, users, academics from public and private institutions, landowners, indigenous peoples and students with an interest in growing and using Poplars and Willows. Representation is encouraged from all countries with natural or planted Poplar and Willow resources including industrialized and developing countries and countries with economies in transition.
