Toolkit for communicators
The FAO Communicators Toolkit provides tools and suggestions for informing and engaging the public in forest-related activities. Read through the texts provided in this section for advice and tips on outreach initiatives and use the toolkit videos, photos and graphic templates in any way that suits your purposes. Share them with community institutions such as schools, environmental organizations, and businesses. Make them available to local or national media outlets and government offices. Celebrate the International Year of Forests 2011 by talking more about forests.
Developed by the International Year of Forests lead organization, the United Nations Forum on Forests, the key messages are designed to suggest content for presentations, interviews and publications.

A 30 second and 60 second video spots are available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Russian (the 6 official FAO languages), as well as in German, Japanese, Portuguese and Italian. For broadcast quality versions, please contact the Communications Officer Maria De Cristofaro.
This 11 minute video features a current FAO project and illustrates the benefits of assisted natural regeneration of forests to the local population of the Philippine island of Bohol. Forests 2011 logo
Link to the International Year of Forests 2011 logo information, download instructions and guidelines for use. The logo was originally made available in all 6 UN official languages, and has since been translated into over 40 local languages.
Posters and banners
Posters and web banners are one of the many ways to spread the word about the International Year of Forests. Organizations are encouraged to develop their own print and web artwork for use during the year, but are also welcome to use these graphics made available by FAO.

Forests 2011 months
To draw attention to the myriad contributions of forests to our daily lives, the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF, a consortium of 14 forest-related organizations and secretariats) dedicate each month of the International Year of Forests to specific themes.
