Financing Strategies for sustainable land and forest management:
Sharing national experiences for the Facilitative Process in practice

Wed. 26 January 2011, organized by FAO/NFP Facility, Global Mechanism, ITTO, PROFOR, Tropenbos International and UNFFS. Programme of the side event

For the past five years, FAO and the NFP Facility are instrumental in providing information and analyses for policy development and dialogues at various international forums. Some of these efforts include:

• contributing information to international processes (UNFF, REDD, UNFCCC);

• organizing special sessions on forest financing strategies at the World Forestry Congress;

• facilitating dialogues on forest investment opportunities at FAO’s Regional Forestry ;

• collaborating with other development partners as a member of the Growing Forest Partnership (GFP).

The focus of these activities is to emphasize the need for increased investments in forestry, identify priority areas as well as potential sources for investment, propose ways to overcome related barriers and risks, and harness new and emerging opportunities for enhanced income from forest investments.
