XIII^th World Forestry Congress

The XIII World Forestry Congress, to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 18-23 October 2009, is addressing the topic of forest health through one of its main themes Caring for our forests. Subthemes will address the issues of:

• forest fires;
• invasive species, pests and diseases;

• other disturbances such as hurricanes, earthquakes and floods.

Invasive species side event

A side event on invasive species will also be held during the main WFC conference on Friday, October 23, 2009. Sponsored by the US Forest Service and FAO, the event is being held to bring together Regional FAO Invasive Species Working Groups and other interested parties to share information and build collaborative networks.
