Towards the 2010 assessment

FRA 2010 was officially launched during a meeting held in Rome from 3 to 7 March 2008. The summary report of the meeting is available here.

The 1st meeting of the Task Force for the FRA 2010 Remote Sensing Survey was held in Rome from 4 to 5 March 2008. The draft report is available here.

To date, 175 countries have responded to FAO’s request to officially nominate a national correspondent.

A series of regional workshops will be organised during 2008. More information on the workshops will be posted on this website as it becomes available.

Global Forest Resources Assessment 2005

The Global Forest Resources Assessment 2005 (FRA 2005) is the latest and most comprehensive assessment of forests and forestryto date. It includes information on current status and recent trends for about 40 variables covering the extent, condition, uses and values of forests and other wooded land. The results are presented according to six thematic elements of sustainable forest management.

A multilingual CD-ROM is now available containing the FRA 2005 main report, key findings, the 229 country reports, global result tables in Excel format, maps, graphs and a PowerPoint presentation. To obtain a copy, please contact: fra@fao.org.
