National forest programmes (nfp) home

This website defines national forest programmes and describes how the nfp concept evolved from the international dialogue on forests. It goes on to present the key clusters of nfp principles agreed on by the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests and provides guidance on how to approach and assess them at the country level. The Phases section discusses the nfp process in terms of an iterative cycle of analysis, forest policy and planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. After that, the site provides information about support initiatives, tools and training materials and opportunities for knowledge sharing and that can help nfp practitioners achieve their goals.

This site has been substantially revised as part of the “Nfps for All” capacity-building initiative launched by FAO, the National Forest Programme Facility, the Netherlands, Germany and Finland. It is directed to all those involved in nfps, either in their development or their implementation.
