New FAO strategy for forestryIn March 2007, the Committee on Forestry (COFO) requested that a new FAO strategy for forestry should be developed in consultation with FAO Members and other partners. Earlier this year, we asked for comments on “draft elements of a new strategy.” All comments received were taken into consideration in formulating the first draft.
The goal is to propose a new strategy to COFO at its next meeting in March 2009. The Regional Forestry Commissions are discussing the elements for the new strategy in their 2008 sessions. Your feedback welcomeA draft strategy is now ready. We are seeking comments from Members, as well as from the private sector, civil society and other non-governmental organizations, international organizations and others that might be interested in the work of FAO on forestry.
