Ronald Vargas Rojas

Ronald Vargas Rojas is a Soils and Land Management Officer at FAO and he is leading the implementation of the Global Soil Partnership.

He is a Bolivian Agronomy Engineer and holds two MSc from the Istituto Agronomico per l'Oltremare (IAO, Italy) and ITC in Soils for Natural Resources Management (the Netherlands).

He has 15 years of working experience (research, academic and development) in natural resources management with a focus on soils and land for food security, including land suitability and degradation assessment, land use/territorial planning, soil mapping and erosion modeling, and soil management/conservation in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

He has been the Land Coordinator at the FAO-SWALIM project in Kenya/Somalia for three years and was consultant for other international organizations such as CIAT, BID, CI, etc.
