Climate change directly affects food and nutrition security of millions of people, undermining current efforts to address undernutrition. It impacts people’s livelihoods and lifestyles through different pathways, hitting the poorest the hardest.

Investing responsibly in agriculture is essential for reducing poverty, creating decent employment opportunities, enhancing food security and nutrition, and ensuring environmental sustainability. However, to achieve this, investments need to be responsible and specifically directed towards the achievement of benefits, while aiming at avoiding negative consequences. To address these needs, the CFS has launched a consultative process to develop principles for responsible agricultural investments (CFS-RAI). Following the recommendation of the 29th Session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI), FAO engaged in a consultative process to support the development of Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries (SSF). We would hence like to invite you to this e-consultation to share your experiences and views on how the SSF Guidelines could be implemented effectively following their adoption by the FAO Committee on Fisheries in June 2014.
The outcome of the e-consultation will provide inputs for the FAO Secretariat to draft a holistic and inclusive global assistance programme taking your lessons learnt, best practices, plans and expectations into account.
