Strengthening the evidence base, providing technical support and advocacy on home grown school feeding and strengthening partnerships in support of Home Grown School Feeding.

Josephine Kiamba is a food and nutrition security specialist with the Food and Nutrition programme at the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is seconded by the Partnership for Child Development (PCD), which is part of Imperial College in London, as a Senior Technical Adviser on Home Grown School Feeding for Southern Africa and is providing technical support to the NEPAD Home Grown School Feeding (HGSF) flagship programme.

The work at NEPAD in collaboration with PCD, involves strengthening the evidence base, providing technical support and advocacy on home grown school feeding and strengthening partnerships in support of HGSF. She has been instrumental in the implementation of PCD supported case studies on school feeding in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

Josephine has worked as a consultant at NEPAD in the area of food and nutrition security since 2009. Prior to that she was Professor and Head of the Department of Consumer Science at the University of Zululand, South Africa. She is a visiting lecturer at the School of Health Systems and Public Health, University of Pretoria, South Africa.
