Targeted Consultations

In order to support a more inclusive and transparent governance processes, the FSN Forum offers to hosts targeted consultations. These innovative mechanisms for consultations and policy dialogue aim at opening drafting and policy making process to a wide range of stakeholders and respond to the increased expectations of citizens and other stakeholders to be involved in and informed about policy processes from the design phase to implementation.

 

Global Policy Processes:

linkHunger, Food and Nutrition Security towards a Post-2015 development agenda

As the target date for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) approaches, a number of processes have been put in place to seek inputs from country, regional and global levels, into the “Post-2015 Development Agenda and Framework”. This consultation aims to help identify the actions, goals, targets and indicators needed to achieve food and nutrition security, and the eradication of hunger, in a post-2015 world.

linkConsultation on the CFS Global Strategic Framework

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) turned to the FSN Forum to organize an online consultation to gather inputs and get buy –in from the widest possible range of stakeholders towards the development of a Global Strategic Framework for Food Security and Nutrition (GSF).
 

linkHLPE open e-consultations

Through this site, the High Level Panel of Experts of the Committe on World Food Security (HLPE) seeks open feedback and contributions at different stages of elaboration of its reports. This is done to contribute to the transparency of the elaboration of the HLPE reports and its openness to all forms of knowledge from many actors (knowledge of local implementation, knowledge based on global research and knowledge of “best practice”) that draw on both local and global sources.

Regional/National Policy Processes:

linkConsultation on the Draft Food Sovereignty and Security Law for the Dominican Republic (in Spanish)

The Dominican Government in collaboration with UN Agencies works on the formulation of a draft Law on Food Sovereignty and Food Security and Nutrition.  The FSN Forum carried out an online consultation among national CSOs and acted as central venue for the whole process linking online and physical meetings.

linkConsultation on the CARICOM Regional Food and Nutrition Security Action Plan (RFNSAP)

CARICOM, assisted by FAO, developed a Regional Food and Nutrition Security Policy. In order to seek input from key regional civil society partners on the draft Action Plan, an online consultation was held on the FSN Forum.

To support the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) in updating its information on the contribution of family agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture to agricultural production in its Member States and to identify priorities for the working group on family agriculture the FSN Forum is hosting a online consultation with stakeholder in Portuguese speaking countries.

The Right to Food Forum is an online community of people interested on advancing the implementation of this human right. It offers an interactive platform for open dialogue, learning and knowledge sharing aimed at promoting and informing the international debate on how the human right to food approach can help to create a world without hunger and malnutrition.

linkEurasian Food Security Network

This network was set up for the Eurasian Center for Food Security (ECFS) as a result of the collaboration between the ECFS, the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).  It allows stakeholders from governments, civil society organizations, research institutes, universities and other interested parties to enter in a constructive dialogue and explore the food security landscape of the Eurasian Region. The consultations are being held in the context of the Russian Federation presidency of the G20 and its continuing work towards priority directions related to the need for “a new cycle of economic growth in the world economy” for which food security is a prerequisite.

linkCommunity of Practice on Food Insecurity
in Protracted Crises

In 2012 the CFS endorsed a two-year consultative process to develop and elaborate an Agenda for Action to address food insecurity in protracted crises through a fully consultative and inclusive process. The expected outcome is a greater understanding of the multi-dimensional causes of protracted crises, the sharing of more effective analytical tools to assist in identifying root causes and the appropriate combination of political and technical responses to address them. The community of practice will feature online discussions to explore critical topics linked to how we can more effectively address food
insecurity in protracted crises.

linkFood Security Information Network (FSIN) Stakeholder Consultation

The FSN Forum facilitated a online consultation to improve the design and to guide the implementation of the Food Security Information Network (FSIN), a global community of practice open to all stakeholder groups to help strengthen national and regional information systems and/or networks on food and nutrition security.
