Family Famrming

Byron Jara is an agricultural engineer, graduated from the Panamerican School “El Zamorano” in Honduras. He also holds a Master’s Degree in economy from Göttingen University in Germany. He has worked for international organizations as a consultant and advisor in topics related to production economy, value chains, rural development and organic farming.

Currently, Mr. Jara works for FAO’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (RLC) as a specialist in family farming. He coordinates RLC’s Family Farming Bulletin and co-authors the yearly publication “The Outlook for Agriculture and Rural Development in the Americas”. During the International Year of Family Farming, he acts as a regional focal point, coordinating related activities.
