Prof. Guomin Zhou
Zhou Guomin, born in Aug. 1969, is a Ph. D of Science, researcher and Ph. D tutor. In 1991, he obtained his bachelor’s degree from the College of Biological Sciences, China Agricultural University. In 1994, he earned his master’s degree from the Computer Application Center, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). In 1999, he got his doctor’s degree from the Institute of Geographic Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Zhou now serves as Deputy Director and Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Agriculture Information Institute (AII) of CAAS, Deputy Director-General of the Society for Information Technology in Agriculture of the Chinese Association of Agricultural Science Societies, Executive Director of the Chinese Association for System Simulation, Member of the China Computer Federation Technical Committee on Chinese Information Technology, Director of the Beijing Society for Information Technology in Agriculture, and Director of the Information Technology Society of the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Zhou has long been engaged in research into information technology in agriculture. His research into the technologies and systems of data sharing in agricultural science and digital orchard management has produced rich outcome. He participated in and directed research efforts for such projects as the State High-Tech Development Plan (a.k.a. the 863 program) and National Science and Technology Infrastructure Program. For his research efforts, he received 10 awards. He won the title “Top-notch Youth” of the Ministry of Agriculture. He was one of the “Top 10 Figures of the Year for Information Technology in Agriculture” and the “Rising Stars in Science & Technology of Beijing”. In CAAS, he holds the position of second level investigator, and is the top scientist of the pioneering team that researches into agricultural system smart control and virtual agriculture.
