    • Dear All

With due respect, I would like to share my thoughts with you. Temperature is a crucial component for agriculture and fire breakout. Various Researches show that changes in climate not only create extreme weather but also create warmer, drier conditions, leading to longer and more active fire seasons and increased flammability and combustibility. Like many other sectors agricultural sector is suffering from various natural and man-made disasters including fire. As fire prevention is better than fire protection so I think that from global level to country level if there is a Temperature Management Law to form a Temperature Management Authority, then it would be better. I think that the Temperature Management Authority will be able to promote, patronize, and oblige us to use various sustainable environment friendly, economically viable and energy efficient technologies for better temperature management, and fire management integration into all sectors including agriculture.

    • Dear All

I think that many urban and peri-urban residents have their own cultivable lands or have scope of cultivation in rural areas. If urban and peri-urban residents were engaged more in agriculture then the food and nutrition system will be ultimately enriched. For example, I think if room farmers, balcony farmers, rooftop farmers to all types of farmers of urban and peri-urban residents were given smart renewable farmers identity card, technological and financial support, then it will not only promote urban and peri-urban agriculture but also mainstream rural agriculture. I think if there were a system to share First Selling Price-Location-Time (FS PLT) by label, receipt, QR code or any suitable way to the last consumer, then many problems would be solved. I think through many media consumers could be acknowledged about nutrition of each food and available alternate similar food. Culturally accepted, various new recipes could be introduced with higher nutrition and affordable cost. Using various electronic media with translation-transliteration, any resident from any urban and peri urban, can share his/her individual or group activity globally for the benefit of all. Like all others, I also wish for better food and nutrition security for all without discrimination.

    • Dear all

With due respect, like all others I also think that 'Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication' has various challenges like lack of sufficient focus on this issue, over and untimely fishing, climate change, fishermen profession change, habitat degradation, lack of deployment of sufficient security technologies, adaptation techniques, and financial support etc. But there are some hopes for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries for Food Security and Poverty Eradication. For example, as a part of adaptation, Euryhaline (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euryhaline)  fish farming comprising more than one species could be considered where saline water intrusion in coastal areas is increasing rapidly due to climate change.  I think this will strengthen the Blue economy in most climate change oriented countries like Bangladesh.  Family based fish farming at aquariums or indoor can play a positive role in the economy rather than amateur fishes in aquariums or indoor.  So we can campaign to make a habit of producing fishes on rooftop/overhead tanks, indoor tanks/aquariums along with fish farming in water bodies. Family fish farming can help a lot with cheap costs for nutrition. Small-scale Cooperative society operated based on fish farming in ponds, abundant canals, and rivers with various methods like fixed cage farming, moving vessels attached cage farming, or totally free fish farming etc are also fruitful. Some fish farming is also helpful for mosquitoes control, aquatic weeds control (that is bio control).

There are some threats in fish farming that are visible in many locations like contaminated fish feed, Plastic pollution and chemical pollution in surface water and sediment of fish farms etc. In this context, I think that if there were a 'Pollution Free Sediment Flow Act' at the country level to the UN level and its deployment globally, then it would be better for global sediment management. Sediment is an important resource for fish feed.

However, all sorts of natural and man-made disasters associated with small-scale fish farming need to be managed. Recently, fish farms are using various smart sensors, mobile apps, web applications, satellite images etc. Cyber security has become associated with these types of smart small-scale fish farms (Ref: https://thefishsite.com/articles/cybersecurity-a-growing-concern ). In this context, I think along with ongoing cyber security measures, 'YLIT Included Information Security' (Please read the attachments here with) could be used. 'YLIT Included Information Security' could be usable for all sectors of information security.

Small-scale fish farms are a source of income for many retired /senior citizens, women, young people etc and bless for food and nutrition for all without discrimination. I think that Banks and financial institutes can invest more in this sector as a part of eradication of poverty around the world.

      Best wishes

      Muhammad Ariful Haque
    • With respect to all, I think that more sustainable solution innovations and implementations are needed for sustainable use of plastics in agriculture. As a part of these, I think the following initiatives could be implemented more worldwide.

      1. Plastic return in farmers' water and soil is ultimately harmful for farmers. So introducing alternatives for minimizing plastic using as much as possible in all steps of the agricultural sector like supply chain to food presentation. For example,

the Plastic straw banning initiative in New York. I think jute straw could be processed such that it could be used as drinking straw instead of plastic straw. Eating cups, plates etc could be made more popular.

In this context, I would like to mention that Bangladesh’s resolution titled “Natural Plant Fibers and Sustainable Development” has been adopted by consensus in the plenary of the second committee of the 74th session of the UNGA.

This will pave the way for a stronger, effective, efficient global value chain for Jute, Abaca, Coir, Kenaf, Sisal, Hemp, Ramie etc and alter the harmful uses of plastic. Jute is considering important tools for a plastic pollution free world. More specialized environment friendly bags could be introduced for agricultural products.

      2. Personal wheeled shopping trolleys with jute bags could be used for shopping. In some cases, wheeled Earthenware could be used for Formalin and other chemical free food reserving/presentation in streets or shops. It needs no electricity.

It's a matter of pleasure that Scientists are continuing research on Plastic eater bacteria. Scientists have discovered an environmentally friendly way to turn plastic waste into energy and

In a series of lab experiments, researchers in Singapore successfully converted plastic into formic acid — a chemical that can be used to generate electricity in power plants and electric cars." (Ref: https://nypost.com/2019/12/12/scientists-find-way-to-produce-electricity-with-plastic-waste/).

Diesel is now produced from multiple sources like diesel trees, coals, used vegetable oil, and even from plastic.

      3. I think using plastic detection sensors for refusing plastic bottles in Beverage ATMs for soft drinks will be better for reducing plastic pollution by the beverage industries. Flammable plastic should not be kept in any Data Center or Data Recovery Site especially for the Agricultural sector.

      4. Introducing some percent of money returned for returning Sold One Time Plastic to the shops and separate plastic garbage containers. Promoting more plastic recycling industries including Plastic and Electronics waste management for safely gold and other objects extraction around the globe with proper financial support.

      5. Introducing more virtual sim, unique mobile charger and batter size,One smart card for all purposes with innovative information security like YLITIS (Worldwide Integrated Linguistic Information Technology for Information Security), Renewable energy powered smart Billboard is another sustainable opportunity against plastic used advertisements, globally use of plastics and glass fibre as additives for Road Surface Technology (RST) etc ultimately saves agricultural soil and water.

      6. If needed, Plastic detection sensors and mobile apps could be used for removing plastics from all sorts of water like ponds, canals, rivers, oceans.

From various news media we have come to know that plastic pollution has been discovered in the Mariana trench, the deepest point of the ocean of the world. Plastic pollution in our oceans poses a real threat to whales and dolphins.

56% of all whale and dolphin species, from small fish-eating dolphins to the largest filter feeding whales, have been recorded eating marine plastics they've mistaken for food. Same scenario is happening to other fishes as well.

Plastic in the ocean is not only a threat to the environment but also the Blue economy that is ultimately SDGs. In this context, I would like to appreciate the initiative of observing Mariana Trench Day. On the other hand, like Mariana Trench of Pacific ocean, there is ‘Swatch of No Ground’ which is a seaward continuation for almost 2,000 km down the BAY OF BENGAL in the form of fan valleys with LEVEES [BANGLAPEDIA]. Swatch of no Ground is feeding the Bengal Fan by turbidity currents. Most of the sediment of the Bengal Deep Sea Fan has been derived from the confluence of GANGES and BRAHMAPUTRA rivers.

Bengal deep sea Fan and within its Swatch of No Ground of Bay of Bengal has more dimensions. Tears of people of Ganges and Brahmaputra river basin also involved to this issue because of

These river erosion makes thousands of people every year homeless, and ultimately they become well

established to internally displaced persons. Scientific research has shown that the Bay of Bengal dolphin has special significance. It’s a matter of pleasure that on the 24th of October, Bangladesh has celebrated the International Freshwater Dolphin Day 2018 for the first time,

gradually improving in garbage management system, promoting environment friendly jute bags instead of plastic, greening coastal region, planning for environment friendly land reclamation, top soil reservation, various acts for fish and water etc.

In addition, I think like Mariana Trench Day, Bengal deep sea Fan and Swatch of No Ground Day could be observed by its neighboring countries to all because of its significance.

Observing the day could promote awareness, environment friendly tourism, research, patronizing, and ultimately a blue economy.

      7. More widely observing International Plastic bag free day, 23 October - International Mole Day ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mole_Day) etc for a plastic pollution free world.

      8. Finally we all without discrimination have to be more united against plastic pollution in all sectors especially in the agricultural sector. Because it's a matter of the better existence of all living beings.

    • With due respect to all, I would like to share my thoughts with you. Like all others, I also think that language and technology can bridge all human of all sectors without discrimination including food and agricultural sector. In this context, I would like to remember with pleasure that Bangladesh along with all other countries celebrate international mother language day on 21st February. On the eve of the day, like others I also respect Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Martyrs of Bangla Bhasha Andholon in 21st February 1952, Heroic Freedom Fighters of 1971, Activists of recognition of 21st February as International Mother Language Day, and many others who are passionately working human intangible asset 'Languages'. 'The Bangla alphabet or Bengali alphabet (Bengali: বাংলা বর্ণমালা, Bangla bôrṇômala) is the alphabet used to write the Bengali language based on the Bengali-Assamese script, and has historically been used to write Sanskrit within Bengal. It is one of the most widely adopted writing systems in the world (used by over 265 million people)' (Ref: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengali_alphabet). Like all others, I also wish for the increase of more languages as UN Official Languages including Bangla.

Every year new words are added into human culture due to Neologism (Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neologism). Many new words are not phonetically compatible with many scripts. Sharing suitable alphabets using IPA among scripts of various human languages could be a solution for this problem. Neural Machine Translation (NMT) and Statistical Machine Translation (SMT) could be incorporated for digitizing this concept easily.

Chandrabindu is an excellent example of a diacritic sign shared  by many languages from the historical past (ref: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandrabindu). All the same, I think many scripts could benefit from sharing letters of other scripts.  For example, the alphabet ' প '/ 'P',  'ঢ', ' ভ '/'V' etc are absent in Arabic, 'র' / 'R' is absent in Burmese, 'য়' absent in Hindi, ' ع' ‘ح” absent in English, Bangla etc. I think using IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) for finding a suitable alphabet, if anyone wishes to add a new familiar conventional alphabet with their own script for perfect pronunciation, can do it easily. I think adding new complementary alphabets will not change original scripts/culture but enrich scripts of various Languages for global competitiveness.

For writing right transliteration, correcting already written wrong transliteration, and learning more new languages in an easy and perfectly and culturally acceptable solution is needed. So, I therefore here mention a solution which I have given the name as ‘YLIT’ (Worldwide Integrated Linguistic Information Technology). I wish YLIT will be a peaceful co-existing solution with dignity to the multilingual people of the world.

I have developed a multi-scripts multi-line text which could be considered as 'Worldwide Integrated Linguistic Information Technology (YLIT)' for beginners. For example, here on attached image the top line is Bangla words (Writing direction left to right), then Bangla IPA, then Bangla Phonetic Romanization, then Bangla Phonetic Romanization in mixed script, then English Translation, Then Arabic Translation (Writing direction right to left). In the corner, another word 'Shohagh' and under it written in self-defined script.  If necessary, mirror writing could be used with normal script.

I think today's information technology is rich enough to bring all humans in a folder with peaceful co-existence and provide scope to learn multiple languages in an easy way using multiple learning media. Simply, it's an innovative scientific way of Journey Inside Mass in different eyes. This YLIT also could be usable for enriching Information Security. That could be said as YLITIS (YLIT Information Security). Now-a-days no one is out of ICT risk. In the time of various global crises including the food crisis, ICT risk is more sensitive. In this context, multi factors authentication, user defined Cryptographic captcha using alphanumeric characters of Multiple Scripts of Multiple Languages, circuit level security, NS2 for various disaster management including fire, security sensors integration, proper law and policy etc could be used to enhance cyber security especially in the agricultural sector. Due to various global crises on one hand and on another hand various new innovations, market places etc in different parts of the world and its e-supply chain management, I think FYLIT (Farmers Worldwide Integrated Linguistic Information Technology) could be an important tool for better sharing various matters among farmers around the world. In this system farmers are able to learn directly by sharing proper alphabets of one another scripts for faster learning. I think enriching linguistic and agricultural skills of natives, and expatriates will ultimately benefit not only their own country but also the agricultural and greening sector of many other countries too. I think if there were a relevant database about this contribution, then it would be better. Waiver and subsidies-based farmers debit card's name on card, name on mobile apps or any other financial documents could be easily converted to local language in perfect pronunciation by YLIT for famers satisfaction.

All the same in heterogeneous environments of LEARN (Learning, Earning, Alerting, and Rescuing Nexus), perfect pronunciations are necessary for every alphabet to sentence specially for machine-based voice to text conversion or for learning using smart whiteboard. Like Chandrabindhu has been mainstreamed and naturally legalized/standardized, I think learning perfect pronunciations of all humans using script sharing of each other- might need global to local legal support.

I wish all the success of 27 march- International day of Multilingualism, and 30th September - International Translation Day (transliteration is the beginning of learning Translation). I think that schools to universities can play a significant role overall in this context, and I sincerely hope that the schools to universities will do so. I think YLIT could be used for more reaching to all and peaceful bonding among all the human specially in Food and Agricultural sectors. I think FAO and Civil Society organizations could engage better by YLIT.

    • I appreciate the initiative of formation of International Digital Council for Food and Agriculture. Now we are living in age of globally integrated information communication technology (ICT) in handy and affordable price. Ecommerce, ATM card, POS, e-wallet, mobile banking, translation and Transliteration apps, sensor based disaster management apps, food, nutrition and agricultural videos / apps, TV apps, online radio, social media, supply chain management system, various software and websites etc all are various forms of ICT. Using ICT, any remote farmer can exchange latest scopes of agriculture. So, I think proper and fair way use of ICT without discrimination for food and agriculture will be bless for all.

    • Sundarban is the single largest source of honey of Bangladesh. I think professional honey colletors (Mauwalis) of Sundarban & other interested nearby farmers could be trained up properly for environment friendly honey collection & farming.

All possible best scientific measures needed to be taken for the benefit of honeybees & honey collectors as well. However, where commercial flower farming, and crops oriented to flower density farming is available is also suitable for honey producing in Bangladesh.

    • Many projects related to food productions had gone in vein due to Combination among projects & Lack of right focus. For example, many of our roads are constructed to the parallel of rivers and canals without plan. If we use the soil of rivers and canals for road constructions then it will safe cost of soil arrangement for roads and dredging cost for rivers and canals. Again embankment can safe our rivers and canals from land grabbers. But embankment roads are unsafe and later on needed to reshape. So, I think we need strict "Right program & Right Patronization" policy. For Environment friendly Regional Balanced development; UNESCAP can develop multiple bi-pass highways with involving funds from banks & other financial institutions. By this I think, UNESCAP can play an important role by minimizing food price by reducing transportation cost and food scarcity in remote areas.

There are huge cultivable lands in world are in a barren stage as well as huge people are unemployed. If we can develop ourselves with global personality & skill and able to turn these barren lands under production with proper local & international management, I think food and nutrition problem will be eliminated. I think IOM can also play a significant role for international agri-employees security & food production management.

If we cultivate suitable plants on Slope of Highway & Railway, Barren-lands, Indoor & Coastal (SHARBIC) areas, then rain water flow will be maximum used as a part of Securing Water for Food and roads & highway will be save from mudslide. We can use GIS and other IT service for enhance (SHARBIC) gardening. It will increase beautification to there as well as enhance total national tea production. Please note ‘Sharbic’ means Total.

Social farming/ care farming is an important source of food & nutrition. I think to enhance social farming/ care farming, there should be compulsory free of cost or very low cost bank account against each social farmer. This account should be used for maintaining all sorts of expenditure relevant to care farming. From local to international donation -everything might be operating through this account. In remote areas where branches of any bank are unavailable, there might be engaged agent of Bank.  There also should be Green environmental Loan disbursement target for each branch of each bank. Agent of Banks also needed to be involved in here. Its transparency & regular monitoring could be possible using latest low cost IT products & services.

Veranda gardening, Rooftop gardening, indoor aquaculture etc should be considered as urban social farming for bank loan sanctioning. I think this will enhance economy specially women economy. Social farming should focus more on food & nutrition production rather than armature farming because water, time, money etc are involved in here. As for social farming, 100% pure is not necessary, water reuse policy could be applied there. Domestic Bio fertilizer, warm fertilizer etc could be used there. Using renewable energy for care farming should be influenced.

Agri-telemedicine could be a significant tool for nutrition / malnutrition relevant advice sharing for all specially for the people of remote areas. To operate Agri-telemedicine agriculturists and other specialists are needed to be trained up in local language. Online based diplomas in home economics, care farming, or any relevant short courses are necessary in this regard.

14th April- Pohela Boishakh (Beginning day of Bengali new year)- is a heritage of South & southeast Asian countries including Bangladesh (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pohela_Boishakh). This calendar was formed as a crop calendar. Now at the time of Global warming, water and food insecurity; we can globally observe this day that is 14th April as "Global Crop Calendars Day”. By this we can estimate crop production delaying or any hazards form 1556 to till now. All the same, other regional calendars of the world could be influenced for enhancing crop production.

      Thank you

    • With due respect, here are my thinking about Rural Women in sustainable Goals

      Women, Water and Family Farming

Beside significant role of women in Sanitation section, women are also participating in family farming sector. Year 2013 was declared as year of Family farming. I think family based vegetable gardening; indoor fish farming at Rooftop, Indoor, and Veranda in urban and rural area. Domestic wastage could be used there. This model will help influence kids to do in future large scale environment friendly activities.

In this context, I want to talk about keeping Tilapia fish at aquarium which can play positive role in economy of Bangladesh rather than amateur fishes in aquarium. Please see the attachments about this. We can campaign for to make a habit to producing fishes on rooftop tank, indoor tank/aquarium beside as usual fish production. If we able to do

that I think within short time, it will be product of international trade from indoor aquarium.

Large scale activities of Rural Women

Rural women can contribute significantly to the domestic Biogas, solar panel, earth worm fertilizer, vegetable gardening, and etc activities. To support them more needed online based home economics teaching besides manual teaching. Financial institute can finance them by interest free loan or by CSR.
