Repository of policies, strategies and action plans on gender mainstreaming within the UN system

This online repository stores a collection of UN policies, strategies and action plans for gender mainstreaming within the UN system. It also features online tools and resources for capacity development and to support UN staff in the process of gender mainstreaming.

Developed by the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), this e-platform is a space for practitioners, agriculture specialists and academics to share information on a wide range of gender-related topics.

Working Party on Women and the Family in Rural Development (WPW)

The WPW is a knowledge network on gender and agriculture for the European and Central Asian Region. It brings together key stakeholders from the gender and rural development sector and provides a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange and participatory policy advice.

International Land Coalition

Women and land is one of the global initiatives covered by the Coalition, which comprises a global alliance of experts and researchers from civil society and intergovernmental organizations with extensive land-related experience. Through knowledge sharing, advocacy and capacity building, its overall mission is to influence global, regional and national processes to promote secure and equitable access to and control over land for poor women and men. The portal offers institutional documents, policy briefs, opinion papers and publications on a variety of topics, including women's land rights.

OECD's Development Centre’s Wikigender project

Wikigender is a project initiated by the OECD Development Centre to facilitate the exchange and improve the knowledge on gender equality. It provides a range of articles, success stories, data and resources.


Womenwatch is the central gateway to information and resources on the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women throughout the United Nations system. The portal contains a directory of resources on selected topics including the critical areas of concern of the Beijing Platform for Action, statistics and indicators, gender mainstreaming and online clearinghouses on themes currently on the United Nations global agenda, such as climate change.

E-Agriculture: Gender, ICTs and Rural Livelihoods

A global platform for the exchange of information, ideas and resources on the role of Information and Communication technologies (ICTs) for sustainable agriculture and rural development. The Gender, ICTs and Rural Livelihoods section explores rural women's access to ICTs as a means to improve their socio-economic conditions.

FAO's Knowledge Management and Gender Programme

The Knowledge Management and Gender Programme disseminates knowledge, including good practices, on gender and agriculture. The Programme is based on a collaboration with Dimitra, Hortivar, the Capitalisation of Good Practices in Support of Agricultural Production and Food Security project, and the Rural Finance Learning Centre (RFLC).

FAO's Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition

(FSN Forum)

The Forum offers a facilitated online platform for interaction among academics, researchers, development practitioners and policy-makers. It allows members to share information and resources on a number of topics related to food security and nutrtion issues, such as gender, climate change and HIV and AIDS.
