FAO in Geneva

FAO’s Liaison Office in Geneva (LOG) is located in the historical Palais des Nations at the heart of international Geneva. Under the overall umbrella of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the objective of the Office is to promote FAO’s mandate to a wide audience, particularly the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG), Members States, UN agencies, International Organizations, NGOs, academic institutions, and the Swiss public. Hosting the European headquarters of the United Nations, Geneva is alongside New-York, the main center of international governance and the most active location in the world in multilateral diplomacy. With 37 international organizations, approximately 380 NGOs and the permanent representations of 177 Member States of the United Nations, Geneva provides a significant platform for FAO to build strong engagement and maintain sustained dialogue with key stakeholders on the issues that are critical for FAO. Against this backdrop, FAO Geneva actively participates in various fora and inter-agency mechanisms to advance its strategic priorities, raise the profile of the Organization and build partnerships with major development players.
