Global map of yearly actual evapotranspiration - 5 arc minutes

ISO19115/19139 XML

Identification info
Title  Global map of yearly actual evapotranspiration - 5 arc minutes
Date  2009-07-21T15:26:00
Date type  Publication: Date identifies when the resource was issued
Presentation form  Digital map: Map represented in raster or vector form
Abstract  Grid with estimated actual evapotranspiration per year with a spatial resolution of 5 arc minutes. The dataset contains yearly values for global land areas, excluding Antarctica, for the period 1961-1990. The dataset has been prepared using a simple, one- dimensional soil-water balance method. The dataset consists of one ASCII-grid with yearly data in mm/year.

Supplemental Information

The input data used to calculate this dataset are part of the "CRU CL 2.0 Global Climate Dataset" prepared by the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, UK, and distributed through the website: http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/~timm/grid/CRU_CL_2_0.html).

Evapotranspiration over irrigated areas is calculated by using the "Global Map of Irrigation Areas". Available at: http://www.fao.org/nr/water/aquastat/irrigationmap/inde

Evaporation over open water bodies and wetlands is calculated by using a information derived from the "Global Land Cover 2000 (GLC-2000)" dataset. Available at: http://ies.jrc.ec.europa.eu/global-land-cover-2000
