| Abstract
|
Grid with estimated reference evapotranspiration per month with a spatial resolution of 30 arc minutes. Data on reference
evapotranspiration been prepared by IIASA for FAO for global agro-ecological assessment studies. The dataset contains mean
monthly values for global land areas, excluding Antarctica, for the period 1961-1990. The dataset has been prepared according
to the FAO Penman - Monteith method with limited climatic data as described in FAO Irrigation and Drainage Paper 56. The
dataset consists of 12 ASCII-grids with mean monthly data in mm/day * 10, and one ASCII-grid with yearly data in mm/year.

| Purpose
|
This dataset is especially useful to perform GIS-based water balance model calculations. |

| Supplemental Information
|
The input data used to calculate this dataset are part of the "CRU CL 1.0 Global Climate Dataset" prepared by the Climate
Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, UK, distributed through the website: http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/~timm/grid/CRU_CL_1_0.html).
This data-set was subsequently augmented by a similar data-set with the higher spatial resolution of ten arc minutes. (http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/srv/en/metadata.show?id= 7416&currTab=simple)
