The yield estimation is based on the WOFOST agro-meteorological crop growth model which uses a number of parameters such as meteo data, soil data etc. to estimate yield. The yield is displayed as a percentage of the 5-year average (1998 - 2003). Long term average statistics are used from the Malawi Ministry of Agriculture and FAOSTAT database.
