EU Ambassador to Georgia visits Kakheti to highlight EU support to the region

27/06/2020On June 25-26, 2020 Carl Hartzell, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia visited Kakheti to highlight EU support to the region in the field of agriculture, economic development, human rights, civil society, environment, energy efficiency, and more. The second day of his visit Ambassador Hartzell dedicated to visiting FAO's demonstration plots in Tamariani, meeting EU-funded FAO-ENPARD project beneficiaries and young agronomists participating in FAO's internship programme. EU-supported ENPARD programme implemented by FAO demonstrates to local farmers the benefits of modern farming approaches with less damage to environment, supports local farmers in finding markets for their goods, and trains young agronomists through an internship programme. Results are impressive: the plots produce four times more yield, and are more resistant to water shortages and other consequences of climate change. Beyond that, the project supports local farmers in finding markets for their goods, and trains young agronomists through an internship programme.
