Technical Support to Stakeholders Capacity Development for Effective Implementation of Pakistan’s National Disaster Risk Reduction Policy

"Building Disaster Resilience in Pakistan" is a UK/DFID funded programme aimed at directly supporting  the implementation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Policy and the National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP).

The goal of the programme is to increase Pakistan’s capability to reduce disaster risk, through better planning, preparedness, response, and resource allocation at the governmental and community levels.

Specifically, the contribution of the FAO Geospatial team to the project is to define more detailed provincial-level agro-ecological zones, a work based on the previous one of NARC, of Punjab and Sindh Provincial Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock, Co-operatives and Fisheries (MoALCFs) and of Provincial Ministry of Forest and Environment (MoFEs). The target provinces are Sindh and Punjab.

For this aim two missions have been already organized in Pakistan (December 2017 and March 2018), for training the technical AEZ teams and finalizing their AEZ maps but also for meeting the leaders for agricultural development projects in the Government.
