Al Bano Carrisi

Carrisi is an Italian pop singer who has sold more than 165 million albums worldwide.

He enjoyed success as part of a duet with former wife Romina Power, as well as winning acclaim as a solo artist. Carrisi has also released several opera albums.

He has performed alongside Plácido Domingo, the Rolling Stones, Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia and opera singer Montserrat Caballé.

Since his appointment as FAO Goodwill Ambassador in 2001, Carrisi has carried out media interviews and made public appearances to raise awareness of hunger issues.

Other contributions include performing in the mega concert, Música vs hambre (Music Against Hunger), in Paraguay. Prior to his appointment, he had appeared at an awareness-raising event in Florence with Luciano Pavarotti, in support of FAO.

"It may be that no one person can change the world, but I know I can change the whole world of one person,” he said.
