Meet the Goodwill Ambassadors

FAO Goodwill Ambassador AnggunAnggun

“You can count on my continued, tireless support to FAO’s activities and worldwide campaign against hunger, to enable those living on the verge of famine to use their own two hands to resolve the problem of hunger at the roots”.

Anggun (Anggun Cipta Sasmi), after a tremendous success in her homeland, started an amazing international career. She made history for being the first Asian artist to break into the international music scene by releasing her first international album "Snow on the Sahara" in Europe, Asia and America. This album produced her biggest worldwide hit today, Snow on the Sahara.

To-date, Anggun has sold approximately 3 million copies of records worldwide and has become the most successful Asian artist outside Asia. Her success has spread throughout Europe as well as several parts of Asia.

A number of her albums have become gold and reached multi gold and multi platinum in numerous countries across Europe and Asia. The winner of several international awards such as the Cosmopolitan Asia Women Award, and the Women Inspire Award, she has given inspiration to Asian women by her career as an Asian singer with international success.

Anggun was nominated FAO Goodwill Ambassador on 16 October 2009.

In this capacity, Anggun has accepted to act as testimonial for  the YUNGA (Youth and United Nations Global Alliance) initiative, to involve children and youth in environmental issues such as climate change and biodiversity.
