Anggun
Anggun gained international fame with the song Snow on the Sahara, which was a number 1 hit in several countries.
She is the first Indonesian artist to break into the European and American charts, scoring gold and platinum albums in Europe. At the same time, she has collaborated with a range of stars including Julio Iglesias, Peter Gabriel and Pras Michel of the band Fugees.
Anggun also represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest.
She was named an FAO Goodwill Ambassador in 2009, and her work since has included performing at an Earth Day concert in Naples, Italy, and recording a video promoting The International Year of Forests.
“You can count on my continued, tireless support for FAO’s activities and worldwide campaign against hunger, to enable those living on the verge of famine to use their own two hands to resolve the problem of hunger at the roots,” she said.
Anggun is also an Ambassador for the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) initiative, which involves children and youth in environmental issues such as climate change and biodiversity. She performed at a concert during the UN Climate Change Conference in Denmark. Anggun takes part in Earth Day |
