Meet the Goodwill Ambassadors

FAO Goodwill Ambassador celinedionCéline Dion

Céline Dion was just 12 years old when she composed a song in French that was to eventually lead to superstardom.

Music manager, and Dion’s future husband, René Angélil liked it so much that he mortgaged his house to finance her debut album.

Her breakthrough came when she recorded the theme song to Disney's hit Beauty and the Beast in 1991, with the composition winning a Grammy and an Oscar. She has gone on to become the best-selling Canadian artist of all time, selling over 200 million albums worldwide.

She has won a World Music Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and a Chopard Diamond Award for passing 100 million album sales.

Dion, who is Candadian, was nominated an FAO Goodwill Ambassador in 2010. Her work includes lending her support to FAO’s EndingHunger campaign.

“I will do my best to play a significant role in the quest to free humanity from hunger, as food insecurity has reached unacceptable levels,” she said.
