Dionne Warwick
Legendary US singer Dionne Warwick has enjoyed an illustrious career that spans over 50 years and countless hit singles, including those with the classic songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
She has received numerous awards and tributes, including her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
At the same time, she has worked tirelessly in supporting many causes, organizations and charities, including the issue of world hunger.
“We all have a place in the world community,” she said. “I am given the opportunity to make a statement about what needs to be done in the world to combat hunger and poverty.”
Warwick, of the United States of America, was appointed an FAO Goodwill Ambassador in 2002. Her role has included concert appearances, interviews across international media and recording video messages for FAO. She also discussed food security issues during an event at UN headquarters in New York, attended by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. |
